Dunamis Christian Centre is a church that has been birthed out of a call, a vision and a zeal for the things of God. The seed of a dream, which is Dunamis Christian Centre, began in 1991 in Houston, Texas, USA. God spoke to Pastor Shaun Hansen on his return from a mission’s trip in China that he, Sandra, and Josiah would be moving on to the ultimate call that God had for them. At this point in time they had already served 8-10 years in a large church in Brisbane, Australia. They had continued in their training by spending three more years in the United States. After this period of time, they waited for God to open the right doors of destiny.
In the second week of June 1992 in Brisbane, Australia, Dunamis Christian Centre began in Pastor Shaun’s living room. At the first morning meeting, twenty people attended and surprisingly, at the evening meeting twenty two people turned up. Within three months they were ministering to sixty-six people. The Church relocated to its first building at the Redgum Plaza complex on the corner of North and Compton Roads, Woodridge. The first Sunday meeting held there was on Father’s Day, of September, 1992. At that meeting seventy-five people were in attendance and in the following nine months, the church grew to over one hundred people.
The next move was to the Logan City Centre complex on the corner of Logan and Kingston Roads, Underwood. The Church used over half of the top floor initially. Pastor Shaun remembers walking into the building in June of 1993, thinking, “how will we ever fill this place?” That morning, one hundred and forty five were in attendance.
After two years, Dunamis had outgrown the auditorium. They took over the rest of the upstairs building, which doubled the space and provided a children’s ministry area. The church grew to over 500. After two years at that complex, the opportunity came to move into the current building in Tanah Merah. The first service was held in May of 1998. At present, Dunamis is ministering to over 3000 people which includes the Gold Coast, Westside and Northside campuses.
Dunamis is a church of vision that believes in caring for people and holding on to integrity. It is a church that preaches the uncompromising Word of God, and a church committed to following the vision God has for His kingdom. It desires to reach the hurting and the lost, and to build up the Body of Christ, giving glory to Jesus Christ.
